Are these supposed to be 64bit test versions only?
Just asking as I got this one on a 32bit client, just like some GFAM and DSL ones... Ralf |

Did you read Uplinger's post that he linked to above? That would most likely answer your question.

Only got 3, all OK - 2 x V, 1 x PV ATM.
Windows xp-32 SP3 (Q9650), XP-64 SP1 (QX9650), 7-64 SP1 (i7-970). It will be interesting to see what effects going to 64 bits has on average WU crunch times. A breakdown of the stats versus various CPU types would be useful too, but would probably involve too much work. When I went to 64-bit BOINC clients on my 64-bit Windows devices, I noted that the 64-bit clients gave about 20% higher integer benchmarks than the 32-bit clients under the same OS. However, the floating-point benchmarks remained almost identical. This suggests that floating-point-intensive programs, such as most WCG sciences, would not see much speed improvement because speeds would be limited by using the same floating-point hardware under both OS sizes. However, you might expect to see speed gains of around 20% for sciences that are integer-intensive. I think there is one such WCG science: HCC. But converting it to 64-bit seems to be coming last, if at all ![]() (You did ask for comments) |
