Several of my uploads were held back for a while, but they have all now successfully completed the transfer. Best wishes for solving the problem.

About 6-hrs ago (at 2012.06.15Fr.0918.utc) was the first instance I came across this matter of painfully slow: website, forum, and uploads. Just tried another upload session a few minutes ago and still the same issue. In between those sessions, paints the same picture. Network-related errors of all colors here and there paraded in display at the BOINC log tab with no apparent pattern of occurrence. Eventually, all WUs were uploaded with the ready-to-report status dismissed. If this was a test of how the system responds when all sorts of network-related errors were thrown its way, I would rate the system with a 9 score. The system, I felt like, dropped to its knees but refused to go down.

The issue is occurring again and we are working with the hosting group on the issue. In fact the issue only disappeared for three hours before re-occurring and it has gradually been getting worse. Thanks for the information as I thought it was my AT&T connection. Seems to be OK for now. ![]() ![]() |

I don't even know where to put this or where to begin...
---------------------------------------- This sort of thing has happened before when there was some troubles with the server. (sort of)... First I got I don't know how many "Resent lost task" Probably hundreds... too many to count... Here is a small sampling... 6/17/2012 6:44:03 PM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task cfsw_4670_04670265_0 6/17/2012 6:44:03 PM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task cfsw_4670_04670484_0 6/17/2012 6:44:03 PM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task cfsw_4670_04670408_0 6/17/2012 6:44:03 PM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task cfsw_4670_04670824_0_0 6/17/2012 9:33:05 PM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task cfsw_4671_04671039_0 6/17/2012 9:33:33 PM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task cfsw_4671_04671083_0 6/17/2012 9:33:59 PM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task cfsw_4671_04671111_0 6/17/2012 9:34:23 PM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task cfsw_4671_04671340_0 6/17/2012 9:40:05 PM | World Community Grid | Didn't resend lost task E208242_915_C.28.C23H12N2OSSe.01099218.4.set1d06_0 (expired) 6/17/2012 9:40:05 PM | World Community Grid | Didn't resend lost task E208242_671_C.29.C24H12N2OS2.01202564.4.set1d06_0 (expired) 6/17/2012 9:40:05 PM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task cfsw_4671_04671690_0 6/17/2012 9:40:21 PM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task cfsw_4671_04671719_0 6/17/2012 10:10:34 PM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task cfsw_4671_04671739_0 6/17/2012 10:10:49 PM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task cfsw_4671_04671833_0 6/17/2012 11:01:33 PM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task cfsw_4671_04671944_0 6/17/2012 11:21:46 PM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task cfsw_4671_04671354_0 6/17/2012 11:22:04 PM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task cfsw_4671_04671938_0 6/17/2012 11:22:57 PM | World Community Grid | Started upload of cfsw_4671_04671719_0_0 6/17/2012 11:22:59 PM | World Community Grid | [error] Error reported by file upload server: [cfsw_4671_04671719_0_0] locked by file_upload_handler PID=14486 6/17/2012 11:22:59 PM | World Community Grid | Temporarily failed upload of cfsw_4671_04671719_0_0: transient upload error 6/17/2012 11:22:59 PM | World Community Grid | Backing off 7 min 51 sec on upload of cfsw_4671_04671719_0_0 6/17/2012 11:37:28 PM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task cfsw_4671_04671180_0 6/17/2012 11:37:48 PM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task cfsw_4671_04671511_0 6/17/2012 11:38:06 PM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task cfsw_4671_04671146_0 6/17/2012 11:38:32 PM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task cfsw_4671_04671855_0 6/17/2012 11:38:50 PM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task cfsw_4671_04671107_0 6/17/2012 11:39:08 PM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task cfsw_4671_04671288_0 6/17/2012 11:40:47 PM | World Community Grid | Resent lost task cfsw_4671_04671306_0 Then I was going to Uncheck the CFSW in my Device Profile and I found this ![]() Now it seems I have 2 of the same computer with 2 different profiles. It looks like I've lost hundreds of tasks(again) that ran during the time when the server was not accepting uploads. And this is not the first time this happened. I don't mind doing my fair share but this is a little too much. I think I shouldn't need to run everything 2 times through. I think I should at least get double the time credit for running these twice. And I have no idea what to do about the duplicate device profile... ![]() (We are running the same computer also at Milkyway@home and there is NOT duplicate profiles for it there.) What the heck is going on and what do I do to fix it ??? [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jun 18, 2012 5:24:46 AM] |

Looks like in the melee the server did not recognize your device and created a new one. Names don't have to be unique, but the underlying numeric device will be, which shows in the message/event log at start such as:
----------------------------------------17-6-2012 13:32:50 URL http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/; Computer ID 1854592; resource share 500 Your stdoutdae.txt file would reveal if that Computer ID changed. Twice processed... that I had happen to a dozen or so shortly after the server upgrade to version 700 in March, but this period where this happened was only briefly [within the hour of resume of service]. Now why this happens to you multiple times "again", only techs could answer. One odd in this thing is that "Resent lost task" absolutely go to the same device and not to another. --//-- P.S. I'm using net-suppress (<suppress_net_info>1</suppress_net_info>) in the cc_config.xml options section, so my Result Status page prints the same Computer ID number as shown in the message logs. Makes it easier to identify which is which in case of mistaken/duplicate name identities. This way, you can filter on each device WCG logged and see if the result was actually twice received/reported. edit: spelling [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jun 18, 2012 6:22:42 AM] |

Yup, problems both with uploads and with reporting completed tasks.

As far as I can tell from my logs WCG upload/download has been failing for at least 8 hours.
My systems are almost out of work ![]() |
