Can you imagine the impact of the Rosetta Project?

Incredible.

Re: A taste of things to come ...

One wonders that if WGC existed when the initial research was being done on these two diseases what impact it would have had on accelerating a solution for them.
It would be interesting to know how long this study took and if GRID computing would have made a significant difference.

Re: A taste of things to come ...

Certainly looks like something the WCG could help with. The diseases mentioned seem most prevalent in Africa; makes me wonder if they'll be seen as 'important enough' to spend much time and money upon sad

Yes, good article.

A great deal of research evidence is accumulating which points to the critical role of the mitochondria in the aging process. Certainly, we will soon see some exciting practical applications. www.lef.org is a good place to get "layman friendly" info on this interesting topic.

Since the mitochondria is passed exclusively through the X chromosome, if your mother ages well, it's probably a good sign. smile

This look interesting.

Yes it does, but reminds me of bilogical warefare - "attack, destroy, infringe, laser beams" ...... but is sounds like a much better way of doing things then we do then today.

Re: A taste of things to come ...

That's putting it mildly.

As the article pointed out, targeting and destroying only the specific cancer cells has always been the major obstacle in treating this class of diseases. If the researchers at Stanford are able to refine the technology (which seems quite feasible) as they propose, this would certainly be a major step forward.

We can also add yet another benefit to the remarkable B vitamin, folic acid.

Thanks for the reference, stares. I had missed it.
