Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 57 smilesmile

I went to a REALLY good concert the other night. I had the greatest time, and for a few hours I had no problems or worries. :)

And my seat was AWESOME. :)

Do something fun for yourself too once in awhile. :)

Congratulations Gerald and Lawrence!! One that was here during team startup and one who started the team. smile applause applause

TGIF smile

Great Dr. Mike. I never did like concerts much. I have other ways of getting my thrills (no nothing all that provocative … well perhaps a little bit-sometimes -- but I love road trips for example).

Almost 1.4 million yesterday...Thats a good day team!

Keith. Yes same profile and everything is set to no restriction and there is nothing else running on the machines. I am thinking they may be slowing down due to thermals. (There are no fans on these puppies). sad

Everyone have a great Friday!!

I bought a couple of used Dell Inspiron netbooks (year old) and converted them into crunchers. They are Atom dual-core processors and don't seem to be doing much work. I have gone through the power settings (advanced even) and the screen saver settings and set everything for them to run wide open but I still have a feeling they are not. If anyone has a eureka about that, let me know.

Have a great day; and if you can, make someone else’s as well.

edit: Archimedes would be disappointed with me for not spelling eureka correctly...wasn't he an English Major? smile

I think i would recommend running Ubuntu or Lubuntu on those machines--you will definitely see an improvement--at the mo i am running both on separate machines and actually like Lubuntu better-- no frills just OPSYS and Boinc--I guarantee it will work better or i will buy dinner the next time i come to Texas--I think i will come after the election-- smile

If your buying, I'll be there. smile You know that I have lots of hungry cousins... Well not really... but I will bring my wife. Somewhere down there near Kingsland? Marble Falls? I am scared that Obama will get re-elected. I have never known our society to be so sharply and vehemently divided.

I bought these machines (netbooks) with windows 7 starter edition on them. Unfortunately the stickers on the bottom of them have been worn out by kids playing with machines. IIRC there is a program somewhere that you can use to get that operating system key from the opsys. As to converting them to Lubuntu, I don't think I will because they are easier to sell with Windows (and all of them are for sale – always). I finally found the problem with performance a few mins ago. It indeed was heat. They went from about 20 hours per WU to 9 when I positioned them correctly and put a little fan on them. The older models did not heat up this easily.. must be something in the case design. My crunchers are beginning to run out of work.. WCG is having significant server issues.

I am going to try to get the team numbers later tonight for Keith..Not sure that I will be able to with all the problems.

WCG seems to have the servers all going again and so I was able to get the team numbers for Keith last night. I don't have his system for doing all that stuff so I can't post the results.

Everyone have a great Saturday. As my Grandkids would say:
