Hi,
I'd instaled yesterday linux system - first in my life :) Profile is default, but I'm getinng only CCW units. Is it normal? I've selected all project in preferences on websiteand windows machines get workunits from all projects. Maybe except CEP2. Linux computer is Phenom X4, 4GB RAM. Speaking of CEP2, wha I can't get this units? I've selected CEP2 in my profile. I'm not geting this at all on 3 windows maichines. One is quite new, W7, i7 2600k, 8GB RAM, internet connection is very fast. Thanks for any help. |

I have both Windows and Linux machines and have no problem getting any project. Even though you say you have checked all projects in the preference on the website, make sure you have it checked on the profile you have assigned to the machine and make sure you have saved the profile. One way to force CEP to to start coming to your machine(s) is to select 2 as the number of CEP2 jobs you will accept. If there is a problem with the website not seeing your bandwidth correctly, it will ignore the bandwidth requirements. You could also try resetting the project.

Since your Linux install is 64 bit, only 64 bit work will be downloaded. C4CW is the only 64-bit application WCG offers.
----------------------------------------To get 32-bit tasks, you need to install 32-bit libraries and edit the cc_config.xml file to let the client know it can download 32-bit tasks. If this is a newer version of Ubuntu (11.10 or 12.04), and you installed boinc from the repositories then the 32-bit libs will install also. If not, you can enter the following into a terminal: sudo apt-get install ia32-libs To edit the cc_config.xml file: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,28642 [Edit 1 times, last edit by BobCat13 at May 27, 2012 9:58:28 PM] |

Good one Bobcat13. Have added a new title to this effect in the Start Here FAQ's, item 4AS "Why getting only C4CW work units on Linux, 64 bits" and inserted a note explaining the cause... oh why oh why only C4CW.
Those "64 bit" Linux systems that are receiving a very limited selection of projects, e.g. getting only Computing for Clean Water (C4CW), though all or many projects are selected, could be missing the necessary 32 bit libraries to get all other research projects [provided sufficient system resources are available]. In this situation the above cc_config.xml change needs to be applied and a terminal command sudo apt-get install ia32-libs needs to be executed to import these libraries. The idea was that more sciences were going to be build for pure 64 bit OSses, and maybe the VINA's (DSFL/GFAM/SN2S) are finally getting it done, now that the ZR testing has started [for SN2S, with GFAM and DSFL to follow], which was on the list of firsts to get treated. --//-- |

Thanks. Have updated to 11.10 - this not helped. But after instaling 32-bit libraries with "sudo apt-get install ia32-libs" I'm getting now units from all projects. There was no need to edit xml file - luckie me :)
