Necessary to register a new computer for results to post?

I recently got a new laptop (WGC already installed). After transferring over data, WGC client seems to be up and running and completing tasks. The message log shows uploads and downloads, and the 'host total' on the client shows non-zero results. But, if I look at my statistics on the web, no results are shown for the last week or two, so I am unsure if the results are posting and just not being attributed to my userid, or if they are going into the bit bucket. I thought perhaps I needed to register the new machine, but I don't see a way to do that, either in the client, or on the web site.

If I click 'attach to new project' under 'tools' it tells me I am already attached to WCG.

If I go under 'device manager' on the web, it shows what I believe is my old machine, but no way I could see to add a new machine.

I think I am missing something easy....but can't seem to find it. Advice?

Only thing I can suggest is to detacg from WCG, then re-attach, signing on as existing member with YOUR registration......

But how do I detach? If I go under Tools -> Attach to Another Project, there is no detach option. And if I select another project, it wants a login/userid/etc. Which I suppose I could invent/create, but hoping I'm just missing the 'detach' option somewhere?

It would probably be best if you do an uninstall/reinstall. Uninstall the software and then download and install a clean version from the WCG website. You say your new laptop already had WCG installed? Whoever did that install is probably getting credit for all your results.

Lost in translation? "Detach" is old fashioned, "Attach" is too. They're now called "Add" (A project or..." and "Remove" in the newer client, but either way, "Detach" or "Remove", look really hard in the screenshot and you'll see one of these two buttons that do the same. Select WCG in the project tab, and the action buttons on left go from grey to black text ;>)

Will doing the above give credit for the work performed but not recorded?
I am facing a similar issue and I was able to detach and attached to WCG. I also seem to have lost 2+ weeks of work.

Re: Necessary to register a new computer for results to post?

Work is never ''lost'' if it was reported by the client [you have observed it processing and fetch new work I presume]. Often members have 2 registrations, for I don't know why, and then the client is found to be attached to that "forgotten" second registration. Look in the BOINC Manager project tab where the active member name shows and if it is *exactly* the same as what you're now posting with: tejasp . If not, than you have a choice to make. Let it continue and look for your stats under the 2nd account or do the detach/remove and add/attach anew with the account you want the result to go.

P.S. There was a website update yesterday which included a self help item on finding out if you have multiple registrations under the same email address: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewSelfHelp.do . You can also find out by signing out and follow the path where you indicate to have forgotten your member name. Enter the email address and a mail will be send with all the member names that were created using that email address [Legacy, it is no longer possible to create 2 or more accounts with the same email account].
