Re: Malformed global_prefs.xml

Those problems related to:

BOINC crash due to 'No close tag' in WCG scheduler reply

No response anymore from the techs to my latest additions to that thread.

A few days ago I had several BOINC crashes because of 'No close tag' in the WCG reply.
Meanwhile updated all my hosts to BOINC 7.0.28, because since v.27 BOINC doesn't crash anymore, but will repair itself if the close tag is missing.
I've also seen downloading all png's and gif's after BOINC restart several times.

Re: Malformed global_prefs.xml

When you guys get these messages about no close tag - how long is it taking our scheduler to reply to you? The only thing I can think of that would cause this would be:

1) The scheduler crashes before it finishes transmitting a response
2) Apache kills the scheduler before it finishes (possibly because it got stalled for some reason?).

I don't have evidence of this though.

Let me dig the stdoutdae.txt for a little. My clients run standard with some extra log flags. From what I posted above in lines, but now without snipping:

Re: Malformed global_prefs.xml

If you are regularly experiencing this, can you send me the sched_request_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.xml and sched_reply_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.xml for a transaction that experiences this? I need to check against the logs when this happens to if it ended in an unusual way.

Re: Malformed global_prefs.xml

The replies returned late, I think as you can see here:

27-Jun-2012 20:09:00 [World Community Grid] Sending scheduler request: To report completed tasks.
27-Jun-2012 20:09:00 [World Community Grid] Reporting 2 completed tasks, not requesting new tasks
27-Jun-2012 20:10:12 [World Community Grid] No close tag in scheduler reply

The last days it happened very often, probably due to the server issue you had.

I didn't saved sched_reply anymore, but they mostly ended somewhere in the middle like:

</file_ref>
<file_ref>
<file_name>hcc1_01_v01.gif</file_name>
<open_name>slideshow_hcc1_01</open_name>
</file_ref>
<file_ref>
<file_name>hcc

Because of the increasing number of BOINC crashes, I meanwhile upgraded all my machines to 7.0.27 or 7.0.28 where this missing close tag is handled better.

Re: Malformed global_prefs.xml

Ok - in addition to making other changes in the production environment today, we also moved the scheduler to running as a FastCGI executable instead of a cgi executable on the server. Among other things, this allows us to double the timeout for it that is longer than other servers requests. Can you let me know if you see this again?

Re: Malformed global_prefs.xml

We'll most certainly will, but with going from 7.0.26 to 7.0.28 right after that one time series event [now latest test version 7.0.30], not seen it being logged again.

Re: Malformed global_prefs.xml

Does the 7.0.30 client log when it fixes the scheduler reply?
