angry boinc.berkeley.edu offline

The berkeley site has been offline for at least 2 days now without a word from administrators. sleep
How am I supposed to download BOINC for new machines or update existing ones without this site. Not to mention we all try to recruit new members and all they get is a
"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" message. angry

If anyone has the latest version downloaded and saved, please email it to me.

Re: boinc.berkeley.edu offline

Yes we know and this is why WCG long ago pulled the approved download versions from the Berkeley hosting and offers the "download again" right top of My Grid, for said IBM approved / audited versions.

Linux users are generally not in a bind as they get their distro ported copies from the Repos' (which better integrate with the respectives distros). Else, if you have multiple machines, sure you can work the USB Mem stick to carry a copy along.

Also mentioned in chat room, New BOINCstats thread, their shoutbox says they've got a power short somewhere. No ETA. It's 3 days now.

P.S. Latest is not best. I'd forgo on the 7.0.25 as "recommended" by Berkeley. You'd be upgrading again soon, because of a laundry list of fixes since, applied to .26 and .27 (test versions).

The last hourly auto-refresh produced a changed response, suggesting something is progressing:
Project is down
The project's database server is down. Please check back in a few hours.

Berkeley is having a power outage that is not of their own doing apparently, the power is not coming into the facility! The local power company is 'working on it' and it was SUPPOSED to be fixed yesterday, Thursday afternoon, I guess they missed it!

ps you CAN still dowload the software from here:

Yup, the "CAN" would have been in need of a "NOW" appendage, and it is in just the last half hour or so, to then discover that "The latest" is a 7.0.28 Test version was snug in, which will have been uploaded like just before the power out.

Thanks, I see they're finally back up. Still, it looks like someone could have posted a message in the members news or known issues section.
As for downloading from worldcommunitygrid.org page, that doesn't appear to be the latest version and the last time I downloaded from there the layout and function was completely different from the one I get from BOINC. In fact I had function/operation issues with it to the point I had to uninstall and get the download from BOINC. (Win XP OS)

Now hopefully I can update and hopefully solve the issue with my 8 core machine only processing 4 wu's.

Re: boinc.berkeley.edu offline

Your settings are not right if your crunching only 4 with a 8 core processor. If its a quad core with hyperthreading, looks like you need to go into your bios and activate hyperthreading. If you have dual quads, go into your boinc settings to allow 100% CPU. Or if your controlling from WCG web site, adjust it there. As was asked prior, what processor(s) do you have?
