Now WCG isn't getting new tasks....

I posted a few days ago about my large WCG WU queue. I fixed that issue finally, but in doing so I can't get any new WUs. I changed my device profile several times, I've cleared the settings in the client, I've removed the project several times, reset the project several times, and even tried default device settings. Finally, I restarted my PC and still I'm not receiving new tasks. I'm kind of stumped on this and my PC has been sitting idle for the past 4 hours without tasks. Please help!

-Thanks, one-shot

Re: Now WCG isn't getting new tasks....

In your previous post you said that you repeatedly cancelled a bunch of work units. There is a limit to how many results one core can get per day to keep a malfunctioning CPU from running through a whole bunch of work.

What has likely happened is you are now at your limit of 1 per day. That number won't increase until you return a valid result and you won't be able to download that until after 00:00 UTC.

Re: Now WCG isn't getting new tasks....

Thanks for the quick reply. I cancelled a ton of WUs and I thought that may be what's preventing me from attaining new ones. I kept receiving around 300 WUs and once and from different projects that I didn't want to run. I guess I'll have to wait and see what happens now.

Thanks again!

If it keeps downloading more than you want you might have set local preferences at some time. I forget the exact name of it, but it's on one of the dropdown menus. Choose preferences then hit clear. That will make it use the web settings.

And this is in the boinc manager application itself, not on your device manager on the WCG site. Also, when you do this, be sure your device manager profile on said WCG site here is how you want it, first.

Re: Now WCG isn't getting new tasks....

Thanks for all the replies. I cleared out the local settings on the Client side and set it to no accept new tasks. I allowed it to accept new tasks in the morning and it's working how it should. I just lost 12 hours of computing time per CPU core in the process.
