Re: GPU Support: Post Your Problems/Questions Here

I have no problem with CPU WU estimates, only the GPU ones are wrong. The HCC estimates you're talking about are for GPU workunits? Mine are still exactly 1:36, but like I said, actually take about 9 or 10 minutes. Now all of them are estimated wrong, originally it was just some, so it's getting worse, not better.

Yesterday I asked new GPU-work for 6 hours (mB 0.25, mAB 0)
I got 150 tasks with an estimated runtime of each 2min22sec.
I had HCC GPU-tasks before on that machine and they need about 35 minutes each running 1 at a time on that GT240/AMD Q9350e.
However 147 tasks of the 150 were resends with a deadline of 2.8 days.
Those 147 tasks will need over 3.5 days running 24/7, so I have to abort 20% of the resends.

Conclusion: Estimated time to complete for GPU-tasks is often unrealistic.

Whats the verbage for beta in the app_info file? I replace FAAH with Beta and get an error message in red. Want to dedicate one thread for beta wu's in hopes to snag a few when they get released. My guess is I need to use the version number with "Beta" or is it different?

Look here. It depends on the application.

Re: GPU Support: Post Your Problems/Questions Here

Hey guys, I've been thinking about getting a new AMD based computer which I could also use for crunching. Without spending lots of cash I was thinking a FX8xxx series processor and a HD 7950 would make a nice match for CPU/GPU power. Comments or suggestions?

If you update your BOINC client to a version above 7.0.40 and use an app_config instead of an app_info you won't have to worry about "verbage"
