I don't know if this is the right thread for this, but I'm planning on building a dedicated crunching PC and I was wondering if some of you with more experience can give me some suggestions. I built one up at PCpartpicker: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/DHMl I'm planning on using a HD 7950 with a FX 8120. Do you think this is a good build for someone on a budget? (I'm hoping to keep it ~$800) Thanks! Switch the Fx-8120 to the 8350. AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

Hello, I haven't read the previous 16 pages, but I was wondering if anyone had the same problem as me.
I'm running a GeForce GTX 560 Ti, each nvidia_hcc1 WU takes about 10 minutes to complete. But I get batches of WU's that are estimated at ~1:35, therefore I get like six times the WU's than how many I want, and their deadline is usually 2-3 days away. Is there a solution to this, or should I just ignore it and let it miss the deadline? |

You don't need to read every page, just use the search box with Boolean connects AND/OR to find prior discussions.
----------------------------------------You are on client 6.10.58 or earlier? Client 7.0.47 does a good job and keeping the run time estimates at normal. 7.0.52 I would not try... just had it eat through over 100 results with computation error for different WCG projects. Never experienced this before. edit: spell edit2: The error these 100+ tasks went out + 8 jobs that were close to completion, worth 2 days computing was -185 and indeed the only way out of this was doing a boot, a fix, not a root cause solution. The service would just keep crashing. ERR_RESULT_START -185 This is an error that will occur: - if BOINC couldn't start the application - if files are missing - upon catch of other error returns - on nonzero exit or signal - if exceeded resource limit - as catch-all for resume/start errors Rebooting your machine will most of the times fix these. By now I'd expected for you to know how it works ;>)... Got link to one Berkeley distributed release, got them all... Only need to change the version digits of http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_7.0.28_windows_intelx86.exe or http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_7.0.28_windows_x86_64.exe depending on if you want a 32/64 bit version.
