Hi,
No, just restart your client or boot computer properly [not the power switch] and change the Activity menu setting to "Run always" if your computer is a desktop. That will let them complete much faster too. --//-- |

I'd rather not set "run always" as that noticeably slows the desktop machine I'm running this on. Running BOINC as service.
----------------------------------------Running Win 7 x64 & client 6.12.34 x64 Did you guys change how "Run Always" works in BOINC 6.x it didn't cause this slowdown with the 5.x client. I've run raytracers in the background with less slowdown (3Delight and Blender if you're interested(even POVRay if you set it's priority to background)). Hard to fathom how the BOINC "CPU time %" would impact the user experience as at 60% default it runs 3 seconds, then pauses 2 seconds to cool down, the one and only purposed of the function [for laptops].
Nothing was changed i.e. it's always functioned this way. The question is, if you want to work around the issue for all VINA sciences where this ''stuck'' could happen on [DSFL/GFAM/SN2S], or deselect these sciences. If you really need BOINC to get less cycles, choose to use less cores. For instance set the processors to 75% on a quad. This way you'll get 1 core for yourself and still do more work. Also you can set BOINC to pause when you have specific programs/games loaded with e.g. <exclusive_app>POVRay.exe</exclusive_app> added to the cc_config.xml in the <options> section. Then as long as POVRay is in memory, BOINC will halt. There's also a tool discussed in he Start Here FAQs called ThreadMasterGUI (for Windows). That can be set to a default ceiling of cycles used by BOINC, and individual sciences to use as many or few as you like. It works on the science application, regardless if BOINC is installed as service or at user level. TMG has to be started though as admin [right click, run as admin] else it can't set the controls in the registry and start the TMG service. --//-- |

That sounds promising, I'll have a look at it, thanks.
