Attempting start of BOINC client says: "Communicating with BOINC Client, Please wait..." It has 2 buttons in window with Cancel and "Exit World Community Grid - BOINC Manager".
I have stopped the F-Secure firewall and still will not start. I have uninstalled Grid and installed again. Still will not start. It had been running fine up to the last 2 days. Rich Hartmann ] |

Hi and welcome to the forums.
Can you confirm in the Task Manager [Ctrl+Shift+Esc] if the boinc.exe process is running. If not, start this from the program folder and monitor in Task Manager if the process starts and then dies again. A sure sign some permissions are funky. Hopefully just that, Whilst, if you can go into the BOINC data directory, for Vista/W7 usually C:\ProgramData\BOINC, there are stderrdae.txt and stdoutdae.txt. These would log anything bad happening with the core client [boinc.exe]. Copy / Paste any bad sections you see. --//-- |

Rich Hartmann ] Also did you install any new software or do any upgrades lately? What happens if you just sit there and wait a couple of minutes? Mine will do that, after a restart, until the network connection, bottom right by the clock, shows connected, then it finds itself and starts crunching. Lately mine has been doing it randomly but if I just let it be, no clicking on the choices, it finds itself and works fine. ![]() ![]() |
