I have just added my laptop to my World Community Grid account. It is my second computer that does work on my account. I have completed many tasks already, but they just say ready to report. I went in to the message center to what is going on. It says that the tasks have been uploaded, so I am extremely confused! What do I need to do to make the files send?

Hi and welcome to WCG forums.
These "Ready to Report" have the by-line "to inform server scheduler of completing the result uploads successfully to database and give final acknowledgment of receipt back to client". They will sit there until new tasks are requested. That's usually within 24 hours. If no work is needed within 24 hours, the client will force the final handshake with server scheduler. In brief, you don't need to do anything. These report confirmations clear in time. The design is to minimize the server scheduler load... combining work requests and result reporting is 1 hit instead of 2 by doing these steps separately. The more of these reports combine into one connect to request new work, the less load for the servers, that are already handling more than 10 results per second. --//-- |

Hello Baumer8993,
All is well. This is simply a confusing message. Your results have been returned correctly. There is a report that will be sent to the scheduler server saying that this has been done which will initiate an expensive (in time) data base update. BOINC Manager trues to accumulate a number of reports so that they can all be updated in one operation, saving time. The report will be sent at least once a day, usually much sooner. This is simply one of those program design features that make sense to the programmers but alarm / annoy the users. Lawrence |
