Good crunching folks!!!!!

Things are a bit quiet but interesting nevertheless. We're only about ten million points away from passing our total 2010 production so that will happen around the 4th to 7th of next month. I hope that I'll be able to remember that. Given that's about the same time I'm supposed to find out if I have prostate cancer or not, you'd think I could. Technically speaking, that's when I'm supposed to get the results of the prostate biopsy. Technically, smecknically. To be honest, I think things are going to turn out fine, at least relatively speaking. My PSA's been just below or just about the high end of "normal" ever since my thyroid went crackers. It spiked over the past year - according to my recent physical. That got me ordered to see a urologist. According to the ultrasound guy, they normally do a minimum of 12 samples in the biopsy and can do as many as 24 based on what they see in the ultrasound. They can't tell if there's cancer just from the ultrasound. They use that to id places that they want to sample in the biopsy. Since they're only doing the 12 sample on me (the minimum), it would seem that they didn't see much of anything in my ultrasound. Still, the thought of having a needle stuck up your yingyang sideways a dozen times is not exactly appealing. At any rate, the ramming begins at 8:30 in the morning. Not sure how I'm going to do recovering from the gas bag's work but even once you're awake afterwards, it can still leave you a bit out of it for a while. Even after this, the real waiting begings---well, continues---until they get the results back on the samples from the pathologists. Like I've said before, I'm definitely not growing old gracefully!

Keith. "been there, done that" I came out of it with a clean bill of health. After the biopsy, my wife and I went and had breakfast at a 30 mile distant restaurant. All was good. Even if all does not turn out well on the test, the treatment has become more and more successful. Not nearly as scary as it used to be. Good luck in any case; it is no fun but entirely "doable". PSA is not a very reliable indicator I understand but I have heard many different ideas about it..including that the delta is what is important. But with thyroid out of whack who knows. I am guessing this is just precautionary. I know it is impossible not to worry but do your best.
