Say I want to use a different screen saver but still process data for the Grid. Can I?
I'd like to know if I can contribute to the project but also not have to see only the Grid stuff on my screen while the screen saver is on. Thanks! (Sorry if this is in the FAQ but I didn't see it there.) |

You do not have to run the screen saver to process workunits.

You can set wcg to run even when doing other tasks. Not just in standby mode. Screen saver is just eyecandy.

Adding to the above statements,
----------------------------------------You should turn it off to save precious cycles that can go to the science application instead of the eye candy. ![]() - AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W - AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W - AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

You have to run the BIONIC manager, in the advanced view you can see the tasks it working on at the task tab and if they are running. I have newer seen the screen saver. (noticed that in the CEP Youtube videos they say that your using your screen saver, me thinks thats wrong http://cleanenergy.harvard.edu/)
I'm running them at all the time as long as I'm not using more than 60% of CPU. You can change those settings after your preferences at Advanced -> Preferences. |
