I have FF and Chrome installed to my netbook that is running a very slow atom processor. Chrome is unable to run videos smoothly but FF has no problems with that, so that makes me think chrome isn't any faster. And that is why I haven't been eager to install chrome to my desktop. interesting point, i seemed to notice that ff crashes less than chrome on videos. |

One thing that I really can't stand is the Googleupdate task created by any of the Google apps. I don't know if that has changed in recent times but that was the reason I uninstalled Chrome and some other g-apps.
FF with all its add-ons is my favorite browser. And yes, NoScript is one of the essential add-ons. |

FF + NoScript + Adblock Plus + not installing Flash = faster browsing. You'd be surprised how often a slow page load is due to slow ad server, JavaScript or Flash (including large Flash cookies, which are not like regular cookies). Flash can also be a CPU pig after a page has loaded.
Chrome is about the same speed as FF in my informal tests. I've seen no reason to convert and the lack of useful addons is a problem. I avoid IE and its malware friendly ActiveX support at all costs. - D |
