Re: C4CW CPU Performance

I always run all threads and I don't overclock. So 8, stock, 16GB RAM (should have minimal impact). This is also my main machine and is often being used for multiple tasks. It's not uncommon for efficiency for WCG to be in the 90-95% range.

If I did the math correctly, those FX chips are about equal to my i5 (ie. they are pretty good WCG crunchers). They run each task slower but can run twice as many tasks smile

Re: C4CW CPU Performance

It comes across almost identical in average points with an i7-2600k. Certainly not as good as it should be, but this is the first generation. I expect refinements within the architecture as well as improvements with upcoming generations.

Right now it's a price vs. performance decision.

Re: C4CW CPU Performance

The price of the FX-8120 dropped to $185. This might be my next WCG cpu.

i7 2600k output at almost half the price smile

What's the power-usage comparison between the two?

At 5 cents per kilowatt hour I'm not too worried. If you're really interested other people have done that kind of research. Or you could just view the respective websites and grab the specs from the manufacturers.

My recommendation: Get a Phenom II x6

I second that recommendation on price/performance: great processor.
