Down for maintenance?

Are the servers down for maintenance? I didn't see any notifications. I'm get down for maintenance in the messages tab of BOINC manager.

Re: Down for maintenance?

It'll be back soon enough. The techs are pretty good at dealing with this stuff.

Re: Down for maintenance?

I have complete faith in the techs. I was just wondering that since there was no notice that whatever is happening was not planned.

EDIT: Looks like whatever it was is now over. Tasks are reporting again. applause

Re: Down for maintenance?

The validator is either down, or suffering from a backlog...

Re: Down for maintenance?

This has been an ongoing issue for weeks now. I was hoping the database upgrade would fix the issues but it only seems to be getting worse.

Whenever I try to report a bunch of tasks, I more often than not see "server can't open database".

As of 0:00 GMT, the validator is at least two hours slow if it's running at all.

Re: Down for maintenance?

I noticed the outage earlier as well. Strange not to see anything about it in Known Issues. The problem may not be directly with the servers themselves but something else where the admins have to rely on others to address. While I have not seen a problem with "can't open database" errors (normally the next request works), it does anecdotally look to be slightly more frequent. I can't see this short outage creating that big of a backlog for the validators yet they do seem to remain behind in their work. Hopefully, we'll get the situation from the admins view tomorrow.

Re: Down for maintenance?

I can't say for the validators since all my reported jobs since midnight UTC are waiting for their wingman, but for getting work my Result Status page confirms that I have got some every hour when needed (9 jobs in total during the same period of time).
And I just checked my message log. No maintenance message, all requests served at the first try.
Maintenance gaps must have been rather short, or I am not contacting the same server.

Personally I would say "business as usual". smile
