Re: Protest on Web Uses Shutdown to Take On Two Piracy Bills

I thought only communist countries believed in censorship. Then, I guess, unfortunately, all governments tend to totalitarianism over time.

Re: Protest on Web Uses Shutdown to Take On Two Piracy Bills

it has been noted on fox. not surprised by not doing so on other networks.; since they are all in bed with the current administration.

Please note that the current administration in the person of Obama spoke out against SOPA even before the blackouts, as has been reported by the media.

Be careful obama speaks out of both sides of his mouth--

25 senators come out against PIPA anti-piracy bill
http://venturebeat.com/2012/01/19/25-senators-oppose-pipa/

(I heard somewhere else it's actually 35 senators opposed, but I'm trying to find confirmation of that).

Edit: 33 is the count so far

It's a hard choice for a politician, millions of dollars or millions of votes.

Re: Protest on Web Uses Shutdown to Take On Two Piracy Bills

Good the less government involved in the Internet the better--They all-ready have copyright laws that can be inforced---PIPA/SOPA supporter Senator Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont), miffed by this sudden turn of events, offers his own statement. “I understand and respect Majority Leader Reid’s decision ... But the day will come when the Senators who forced this move will look back and realize they made a knee-jerk reaction to a monumental problem.”---this Senator is a Jackass--what's wrong with these people??I guess Hollywood and the music industry are greasing their hands-- Sen. Leahy criticizes 'knee-jerk' reaction to PIPA, SOPA protests
Vows he's still committed to anti-piracy legislation http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/922359...=CTWNLE_nlt_pm_2012-01-20

Re: Protest on Web Uses Shutdown to Take On Two Piracy Bills

And it's back, again.

http://a.fightforthefuture.org/sign/obama-sopa

Can you believe this? After the largest online protest in history, the Obama administration is still voicing support for SOPA. Tell Obama to promise: "I will never advance legislation that blocks websites or disconnects Americans' internet access." Just the other day, the administration sent a letter to Congress to demonstrate their support for new internet censorship legislation. Victoria Espinel, Obama's so-called "copyright czar" just said: "We still need legislation for blocking foreign websites." You can read the full statement here. Our goal? Get more signatures than the top petition on whitehouse.gov. Right now that's about 151,000 signatures.
