This was a download problem from the download server [not of your computers fault]. Just ignore as someone else will succeed next time the unit is distributed.

As I've noted in other thread, 7.0.12-7.014 *alpha* clients are *unfit* for WCG as these cant handle *.gzb file downloads correctly. Not the same issue as OP.

Because if the latest Boinc client can't handle downloading *.gzb files imo there's a big issue that needs correcting. I'm on the Boinc Alpha mail list. but can't recall seeing anything re this issue. |

Don't you worry... the right people were informed and have acted. And to emphasize, unless you specifically need this client and any of the 7.0.xx ALPHA builds so far, they have no business in regular general production.

They've got it sorted with the latest alpha. Quick turn around on that, too. Use at your own risk of course.

DA, If you're a tester, please try CEP2 and report in that forum, low key, if you see a change in the Elapsed-CPU time gap, with focus on Linux. I'm somewhat optimistic v.v. the new async file copying function
An yes, knreed was on their skin after a direct message ;>) thx |

I ... play with things I often shouldn't, yes. ;) I'll have a look at that when I catch a CEP2 unit ready to report and post what I find. I don't know about any change in things, though, as I didn't worry about it in the first place, but I'll have a look now you've mentioned it.

Hmmm ... did you mean the CEP2 forum here or the BOINC alpha tester's forum? I'm not on the latter, I'm just a compulsive fiddler (usually it pays off but sometimes I lose, too. That's the chance I take.).
