Leveraging a disparaging WSJ article on the solar industry to boost the project.

Check out my post,

"From the Wall Street Journal – Solar is Failing. But From Some Guys at Harvard – We’re Just Getting Serious"

http://sciencesprings.wordpress.com/2011/12/2...ere-just-getting-serious/.

I just wanted to put this on the CEP2 Facebook page; but you do not seem to have that utility that allows anyone to write on your "wall".

Caution - Avira alerted on the linked page as some element appears infected.

What??? I would really like to know about what you are commenting. I do this kind of blog post all of the time, picking up text, graphics, adding my own graphics. I don't know where any infection could come into play here.

I got an alert about an infected element on the linked page, possibly from a 3rd party advert, common vector for innocent sites to suffer from infections.

Just checked twice and saw ads for BT and then elites, not sure what was there when Avira alerted.

Falconet-

Thanks for the vote of confidence. It is nice to see that since I did the post it has been viewed over 50 times. So, maybe we will persuade some new people to lend us their CPU cycles.

Strangely, that WSJ article's author had written another article - also in 2011 - that covers some big players investing in alternative energy to include solar. That is not something the big guys do - particularly not those from traditional industry sectors - unless they either see a near certainty for a return on their investment or they seek to lay claim to new technology (whether to monopolize or bury it is an open question).

When you read something in the WSJ, you have to remember that rag was purchased by an entity that shows a clear preference in political parties - which yields a clear preference for the status quo of dependence upon the energy suppliers who have long funded that political party. Because I am easily amused, I would like to quote Ayn Rand's work Anthem where those who embody the status quo respond to the "threat" perceived by the reinvention of the light bulb:
"Should it be what they claim of it," said Harmony 9-2642, "then it would bring ruin to the Department of Candles. The Candle is a great boon to mankind, as approved by all men. Therefore it cannot be destroyed by the whim of one."
Big Carbon - the hydrocarbons and coal industries - are the "Department of Candles". They will do what they can to ensure that they are not displaced. Certainly they do not abstain from political intervention, which in combination with their advertising forces me to conclude that it is unwise to rule out their manipulation of the public via purpose-built "journalism" in "friendly" media sources. If you wished to starve new solar ventures of start-up capital, the WSJ would be an ideal venue for your effort.
