Just the sheer numbers of ARM processors available would indicate to me that there will be movement towards utilizing them at some point.

If Papa3 is Ranked 180 or so at WCG with well over 100 years CPU time.....where are all the sapphire badges? There are 6 levels of badges for run time donated to each research project and each is denoted by a different color background: I am at well over 146 years on the FA@H project, which under the current system results only in a "Sapphire" badge. Bronze - 14 days Silver - 45 days Gold - 90 days Ruby - 180 days Emerald - 1 year Sapphire - 2 years The following link documents my pre-existing request for a FA@H "Neutronium" badge award when I hit the 150-year mark.... ![]() http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...d,26230_offset,220#356740 |

There have been similar threads about running BOINC on smartphones and tablets. I think the most important issues are:
1) They are not designed to run at 100% CPU usage for long periods of time. 2) They are designed to run on batteries while you carry them with you. So even if technically it would be possible to develop a BOINC version to run on your favorite tablet, it won't be practically viable. Windows (7 & 8) tablets may already run BOINC, but will suffer from the same issues. |
