Re: More machines! More!

I don't particularly want or need personal recognition, on the level of "your machine crunched the magic WU!"
Then you are at the right place!
Projects run at WCG are generally meant to build or improve knowledge bases rather than looking for the rare jewel like an umpteenth kilometer-long prime number.
It is the sum of all the WUs we are returning which is the jewel.
And you have done a pretty good job to help it.

@spingadus[MM]
Oh, tell me about it. tongue I found a couple interesting ways to not worry about that, though... I used to make a habit out of choosing basement suites that explicitly included all utilities. At least one of my landlords had to take a look to check that my electric baseboard heaters were turned off (they were), and that I wasn't running a marijuana farm. After which he wanted to negotiate for the extra power bills. devilish

Currently, my apartment uses about $200 of electricity a month. Roughly. But surprisingly enough, I don't use most of that. See, I have two six-foot 19-inch racks full of equipment... but my roommate has three of the same. That's not counting the station in the living room, the sound system, or the enormous telephone PBX exchange sitting in our front closet. laughing His aspiration is to build a smart house, where he can get at any computer from anywhere and have a phone roughly every 20 feet.

My limiting factor at home, annoyingly enough, is heat. My server racks are located in my bedroom, and I need to sleep at some point. The noise doesn't bother me in the slightest, but the heat does. I tend to leave one of my windows open 24/7, no matter what the temperature outside. If it's -4, then it's a good air conditioner. If it's 30, then at least the wind will blow through the house and out my window, so it's a good air conditioner. cool

And you have done a pretty good job to help it.

@JmBoullier
Thank you for those kind words! And all the while there's this little refrain going around in my head saying "Not enough! Not enough yet! Gotta keep crunching, gotta keep crunching!" cool

Re: More machines! More!

Well, it's good to see dedication from all on here. The electricity bill is the limiting factor here in the UK. My elderly neighbour won't use her radio because jooce is so expensive, and though I run one i5 box 24/7 for WCG, I don't run the other. Every little helps.

I hope when SETI find the Aliens they bring Unlimited Jooce with them, along with the jet-packs and the underwater cities. :-)

Tesla was going to 'beam' electricity WorldWide as part of his plan, it never came to be though.
