If he has not allowed messages from team members or if he does not answer them, then you (or another teammate) should consider taking over: he seems to be away since April 2008.

I also joined a team with a captain that did not want emails.
Eventually the captain faded away into the past and stopped contributing.
I found myself as the only member of the team so there was no one but me to be the captain.
It would have been very appreciated if the original team captain had given consideration to those that follow.

Everyone should add their email address to their profile, specifically a team captain.
WCG and the members will not spam, and WCG is not crawled by search engines so what is the problem?
If anonymity is the goal they can use a free email account from gmail.

Good luck with selecting a new captain and hope you succeed with recruitment of new crunchers.
Since September of 2011 I have added 7 members.
Not big numbers but it is a 700% increase.

Recruiting can be difficult.
Try your friends, relatives, neighbors, faculty, alumni, employees, etc...
Also a great opportunity to get children interested in science and research.
You have a good chance of succeeding, look at Marist College, they did.

Open University currently ranks 15th in the UK. At #14 is Agresso Research Crew Comparing your current daily runtimes you should pass them in mid-June.

And then at #13 it's Oxford University!

Thanks for the suggestions. Alan, our previous captain has been in touch and handed the reins over, I'm now acting Skipper until we hold elections, probably next Christmas if not before. All nominations will be welcome.

I wrote to the OU computing faculty, and it's to be hoped we get a response - the University has 600,000 users, most of whom use a computer, ten per cent of those on WCG would be nice. I built an i7 and an i5 machine and let them rip 24/7 over Christmas which was a big boost, adding over 8000 points per day, on their best days, according to BOINC. WCG crunching helps in winter help keeps the house warm.

Out of our small team of 50 or so members many are not terribly active so we do need to extract more gigahertzsicles out of our hosts. A challenge with Oxford had occured to me - particularly if we got our student masses onto it.

My own history is of a 1979 data comms analyst (Vax/PDP11, X.25) etc, gone haywire on soldering flux and RS232 ports. I'm now a student at the Open University catching up on an Arts degree.
