Regarding this bug:
http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,28642 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=671288 I would like to let you know that the workaround posted in the WCG link does not work. I have Fedora 16 64bit I cannot post in that thread because it is read only. Anyone of you have solved it? |

Hi,
In what way is it not working? You do the NB part and did not accidentally change ownership of the cc_config.xml? If the <option> is properly set and you read in the file via the Advance menu, Read config, there would be something logged in the message screen and warnings if a flag is wrong. --//-- |

I just tried on another computer that was having the same problem. I solved with that xml file.
One complain to WCG admins: we give you our support by donating our computers, you please fix those annoying things |

We're hoping on getting one day a GUI screen for the cc_config section, but it would have to be done with care... not in a too obvious place as the options in there can render a system useless too. Anecdote: Tried it through another tool that does have a cc_config screen, thought I'd changed the flag on one line in the *all options* prepopulated file and [whilst not wearing glasses] entered the 1 activation on the wrong line. The result was that my client could nolonger connect, requiring the [Berkeley] developer to guess, ask me to check and then explain that it was an option for testing purposes only. Was close to restoring to backup and loose lots of work in progress.
The particular line btw that you got it to work with, is not always encountered and is an issue with Linux exclusively. The developers only test Ubuntu, there being way to many distros for the Linux platform. Ports are then compiled by the various main distro developers for inclusion in their repositories. Mind you my first Linux, on Ubuntu 10.04, had the same obstacle, but later clean installs on 10.10 and on did not. At any rate, thanks for sticking with it and volunteering your spare computer cycles at WCG. --//-- |
