Re: BOINC 6.12.34 seven 64 bit REVODRIVE 3 many error on tasks help please

Yes, synching time every 10 minutes will get you blacklisted. From what I've heard, once every 4 hours to once a day is the highest update rate you can use without getting blocked.

If the system adjusts the clock 1.5 minutes every 6 hours, you have a clock drift of about 6 minutes per day. Is that right?
That's very high. For comparison, my desktop with the standard Windows 7 time service drifts about a second per day.

If the drift is stable, NTP can correct for it. (I thought the Windows time service did that, but maybe not. NTP for Windows is an alternative if Dimension 4 doesn't do it either.)

If the drift is irregular, e.g. varies with CPU or Revodrive load, I don't know of any good solutions.
But if you have another computer available, you could set it up as an internal time server: Let it synch with internet time at normal intervals, and let the problematic computer synch time with the first one as often as it needs to.
Or perhaps turn off automatic time synch altogether, instead synching manually every once in a while.

i'll try to synchronize on my Routeur WRT150N under DD WRT. but i don't know how to . i'll check. Today i decide to leave the PC ON without doing anything and monitor the clock drift.

Re: BOINC 6.12.34 seven 64 bit REVODRIVE 3 many error on tasks help please

I found this page describing how to change the synchronization frequency in Windows 7.

warmachine,

Why your clock is running that much faster to get these backward adjustments is a riddle, but I snipped the above from waitingforaMiracle post. The task to create in the scheduler is *not* necessary because there are many tasks in there already, in amongst the Time Sync Task.

(Not in French, but in poor English)

1. Open the task scheduler
2. In top left bar, there is a Library of tasks.
3. Fold out Microsoft,
4. Fold out Windows
5. Parse down to where the Time Sync task is.
6. Mine is set to weekly, Sunday, 01:00 AM since 1.1.2005
7. Double Click that line
8. Find the trigger tab and double click to change frequency to daily, repeat hourly and on right change drop box to infinite.

Without 3rd part software, hourly syncing.

You may have found that already, but then someone else may be helped with this knowledge. Important is that time adjustments remain under 30 seconds while BOINC is loaded, regardless if suspended [with tasks in memory]. The repeats per task are 100 before they are killed, but running CEP2 on 24 cores and than simultaneously restarting... that must hurt on any system.

thanks. i'll try to find the source of the problem. when monitoring the clock under bios, there is no timeshift. and since i have removed BOINC (even with no tasks running, i got a serious delay) it looks better.

Re: BOINC 6.12.34 seven 64 bit REVODRIVE 3 many error on tasks help please

Hi

I got again the problem when running 24 thread for CEP2 project. I have replaced the MB (for an other issue) and also the revodrive3 with latest firmware 2.22. I have also update boinc client to 7.0.25.

Please advice for debugging

Are you saying you're running 24 CEP2 tasks simultaneous on 1 machine? That would be the new known record [I know of] if succeeding without resource and I/O problems.

Guess that's one way to kill a SSD if your running 24 concurrently. CEP2 is high read/write project. How long are your wu's taking to complete? I currently have a dual hex system and wouldn't crunch more than 6 at a time but have read others doing more. Think Hypernova was crunching more but not sure.

the CPU time is around 99% with 24 simultaneous CEP2 tasks.

If you have 99% efficiency reported with 24 concurrent, at the end that is, than you're good to go. Statistics of large numbers, with so many concurrent, the RAM needs could top out at 14-18GB. My 8 core has 8GB, so suppose your system has been fitted with 1GB per active thread at least. Impressive. Still does not explain your system clock shifting, and that with a new MB at that.
