Hello Chris Holvenstot.
----------------------------------------@Agrfan - the original post deals with the AMD Bulldozer/FX line of processors - the new architecture released by AMD just a few months ago ... I guess that ArgFan is referring to the PMH_UK [Jan 10, 2012 2:05:52 PM] post to which post...... the knreed [Jan 10, 2012 3:47:42 PM] post (relevant part) replied: Yours: Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Edition, Service Pack 4, (05.00.2195.00) AuthenticAMD AMD Athlon(tm) proswssor [x86 Family 6 Model 10 Stepping 0] Anyways, I'd like to think that AgrFan's ...or upgrading to more up-to-date hardware if you continue to have issues may include a suggestion to take a look at the AMD FX chip notwithstanding the issues currently discussed involving the AMD FX chip -- which issues seem to be getting resolved step-by-step, deliberately, willfully, and with enthusiasm .Edit1: I didn't wait for ArgFan's [Jan 12, 2012 1:08:43 AM] response post , but it seems I guessed right on some areas ! ; ------------------- edit1: 2012.01.12Th.0929.utc ; [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jan 12, 2012 1:29:32 AM] |

Do we know yet if the validation problems with the new AMD processors has been resolved?
----------------------------------------@andzgrid - you are correct, I was referring to the PMH_UK posts which are not directly related to this issue.

@agrfan - I have a single Bulldozer/FX system in my setup for the simple fact that I do software regression testing - If you are looking for throughput you are much better off going with the I7-2600 or even the hex core Phenom II CPUs - the per core performance of the FX CPU is disappointing and less than that achieved with the Phenom II series.

For the AMD FX issue for results that were sent out and returned in the past 2 days, 166 were marked valid, 7 invalid and 11 are current inconclusive. There isn't a clear pattern to the 7 invalid and 11 inconclusive results. We are going to have to let a little more time go by so that we can evaluate things with more data.

Still only seeing invalid and inconclusive results for GFAM and DSFL on AMD Interlagos.

For the 'socket a' AMD "proswssor" issue, results that were sent out and returned in the past 2 days, 40 were marked valid, 1 invalid and 3 are inconclusive I think you're seeing this because many of these systems have removed themselves from GOFAM and DSFL. All through both betas and production phases every single unit ran by my XP 2000+ were marked invalid. If you want more data points, I'll load up a unit or two and guarantee you invalids to check. ![]() Distributed computing volunteer since September 27, 2000 [Edit 1 times, last edit by KWSN - A Shrubbery at Jan 17, 2012 2:59:16 AM] |

@KWSN - A Shrubbery: We made a chance to separate out the Athlon processors into their own HR class which is why we saw improvement. The invalid rate was much higher prior to that change. Please test again with your computers.
@davyboy: We just deployed a new change for the AMD 'Family 21' processors on Linux. This should help your success on GFAM and DSFL. |
