Check your profiles if you had "Please opt me in to new projects as they become available." set on as mine have changed to 12 CEP workunits, probably when script was run to set GFAM on. Paul. Sorry, not too spiffy in the profile configuration area, where would I look to see how many simultaneous WU's are set for me in CEP2? I want to stick to one at a time? |

Client 6.12 has the ''Notices'' tab, but the amount of ''advertising'' that is already being let loose by some projects through this feature, has been enough for me to have it set to ''no more frequent than once per 24 hours''. Implemented and purpose - to raise attention to important matters requiring volunteer attention - defeated.

Implemented and purpose - to raise attention to important matters requiring volunteer attention - defeated. Ahhh...yes, I made that suggestion without remembering that the definition of "important" is a variable rather than a constant.--//-- |

Sorry, not too spiffy in the profile configuration area, where would I look to see how many simultaneous WU's are set for me in CEP2? I want to stick to one at a time? Goto your device profiles (you may have to sign in). Then since you haven't messed with profiles, you probably only have one: Default Click on that, scroll way down under "Advanced Options" to "Project Specific Settings" and there is your "Number of workunits per host for the Clean Energy Project - Phase 2". Don't forget to "save"! (Edit: And this may not be applicable at all if you are not using a custom profile as I am in order to crank CEP2 throughput up as much as possible. As I haven't messed with the standard/minimum/maximum/power savings profiles, I would just be guessing when I say that it is likely that they default you to one????) Kevin, from your earlier post in this thread, thought to read that only those were affected who'd actually had the value 12 in the field. The KN message reads as if *all* are effected that dont have the default of 1 in there. If your script has run, the 3 respectively 8 that I have in the profiles have remained unaltered.

Just checked - all my profiles have been switched now to "1".
----------------------------------------Even those which didn't have "Please opt me in to new projects as they become available". It seems, that it was resetted for all. I hope my post here wasn't a reason for that. It would be not very nice to discriminate the project just because of my kidding. I understand pretty well all the reasons why it makes sense to have such a low default value. ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by krakatuk at Nov 14, 2011 8:11:39 PM] |

Dear mitrichr and others, Dear Harvard CEP team: When ya going to update your tips and tricks to include BOINC data directories residing on the more popular RAID configurations? please also check http://cleanenergy.harvard.edu/documents/Tips_Tricks_CEP2_Custom_Settings.pdf for setting customization tips. Best wishes Your Harvard CEP team (Hey, at least I didn't include SSD data drives...or RAID 1, 5, and/or 10 on SSDs ...probably better not, either, lest you wake up that idiot that likes to whisper "More power, Scotty!" to some of us.) |

Dear ibsteve2u,
thanks for your comment - we've been thinking about making suggestions concerning hardware but ultimately decided against it. We believe it would mostly confuse users and hence not be helpful. It's also hard to make general statements and the number of users who would benefit would probably be very small. We therefore restrict ourselves to easy configurations any user can make in the device profile or BOINC options. Best wishes Your Harvard CEP team |
