Check your profiles if you had "Please opt me in to new projects as they become available." set on as mine have changed to 12 CEP workunits, probably when script was run to set GFAM on.

I was set to opt in to new projects and nothing was changed in CEP2. However I was not opted in to the new project either. Perhaps the scripts were still running when I manually checked it.

Weird scenes, but looking in all my profiles it's still at the number prescribed [and GFAM did get auto selected as what I've set in the options). Maybe its alphabet driven, and has not reached this far yet. (Am not getting CEP2 anyhow for unknown reason... not since 28 hours now, though the number is set to 8).

Thanks, PMH_UK!
----------------------------------------I'm seeing the same strange change in my profiles and had to switch back to unlimited. But for CEP2 it's rather a nice modification - there are a lot of users who don't bother about any settings and have it default: "1". Now they have 12 - we will see a happy "cleanenergy" tomorrow in the forum. (Hopefully this cannot be reverted back) ![]() ![]() |

Thank you for reporting. This is a bug that was introduced as a result of some code that we were adding to allow us to start testing the ability to customize the timeout to range between 12 hours and 24 hours. Unfortunately there was a typo and it updated the wrong field to have a min setting of 12 hours.
Unfortunately, because this set a lot of people's settings to a much higher value than their machines can handle, we have had to clear the setting. We have no way of knowing who 'intended' the setting versus those who were set incorrectly. Thus we will be resetting everyone's whose matches 12. We will post when we have reset them and fixed the website. The setting will be at the default setting. |

Thanks, PMH_UK! I'm seeing the same strange change in my profiles and had to switch back to unlimited. Taking a look, the 2 profiles with a specific number of CEP2 wasn't changed, but the one sitting at default was changed to 12. But for CEP2 it's rather a nice modification - there are a lot of users who don't bother about any settings and have it default: "1". There's 6466 reasons for this being a bad idea... Now they have 12 - we will see a happy "cleanenergy" tomorrow in the forum. (Hopefully this cannot be reverted back) ![]() I seriously doubt users choosing the option "Detach World Community Grid" due to CEP2 not playing nice is a good choise... ![]() "I make so many mistakes. But then just think of all the mistakes I don't make, although I might." |

The website has been fixed, and profiles have been reset. If you had changed the cep2 setting, you will need to go back and check to see if your setting is correct or now.

There was a real giraffe tongue in cheek here... hard to miss ;D knreed, many will look forward to that > 12, up to 24 hours option. This will make the value of contribution for slower machines, those who still want to run CEP2 notwithstanding, surely more significant, if not, lesser need for the scientists to rerun the ''interesting'' results that were cut short at an early job step. --//-- |

This "oops-with-possible-repercussions" is enough to make you think the WCG/BOINC Manager needs one more tab for broadcast messages (or just dated links to same) from the science projects a user/donor is attached to.
----------------------------------------(And maybe some kind of alert indication via the taskbar notification area icon. lolll...that, and integration of CoreTemp readings into the screensaver; give me a window of opportunity, and I'm jumping through.) (Edit: Typoed the spelling of CoreTemp. Go figure.) [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 14, 2011 6:46:48 PM] |
