Have you looked at The Start Here Forum Frequently Asked Questions Index ?
----------------------------------------In particular see if items 1.B and 4.Z.4 can help you. I assume that the simplest method is not working for you (for whatever reason), i.e. detach the client from WCG, then attach it again using your member name and password. |

It is used from the command line with the boinccmd tool:
boinccmd --project_attach http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org ec99bxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxwill attach boinc to the specified project and account. But if you are using the desktop client, there should be no particular reason to use the command line tools. |

Thank you, this solved my problem. The main point was to pick the right URL when connecting to the project.
I was confused what all the URLs listed in the client selection list were. From your explanation I understood that project URL has to be http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org. Once I picked it, entered the ID and password and it connected to my projects. I do not know why by default it connects to IBM account. |

"I do not know why by default it connects to IBM account."
New computer with Boinc & WCG already installed, and setup to run as user IBM - That would be the initiative between IBM and the manufacturer of your computer to get more computer users involved in crunching, especially for WCG. |

I do not know why by default it connects to IBM account. mihaig, skgiven,This is supposed to be the case only for IBMers who receive their notebook already loaded with the basic set of applications necessary for their job. BOINC is now part of this basic set and is attached to member IBM by default. However IBMers interested in grid computing are allowed to attach their BOINC client to their own member name if they wish. This is also the case for IBMers who install BOINC on an older machine from the IBM internal library of applications. When it is a re-installation I would hope that the installation procedure recognizes a personal member name and respects it but this has to be confirmed by an IBMer. Regarding machines sold with BOINC already installed, as far as I know this is currently the case only for Sony VAIO machines sold in the US, and these machines are attached to member name "Sony VAIO Team" by default. I presume that it may also be changed to a personal member name but I have no real life feedback on this precise topic. |
