I saw a couple of work units restarting from zero and ignoring all existing checkpoints. I'm running exclusively HFCC. Boinc 6.10.60 64bit on Win7/64, Core i7 mobile.
And yes, LAIM is on :) I think this snippet here is from one of these work units: Finished Docking number 151 Finished Docking number 152 Failed to get VersionInfo size: 2 INFO:[12:14:07] Start AutoGrid... autogrid: autogrid4: Successful Completion. INFO:[12:16:11] End AutoGrid... Beginning AutoDock... INFO: Setting num_generations: 27000 _maxGenSeenSoFar changed: 6750 About to enter main loop...(dockings already completed: 0) Updating Best Energy for WU: 0.00 Finished Docking number 0 Updating Best Energy for WU: -5.77 Finished Docking number 1 Updating Best Energy for WU: -8.28 Finished Docking number 2 Finished Docking number 3 I can't really tell for sure, but possibly this issue comes from a messed up hibernate mode. Waking up sometimes causes the machine to re-boot. Then, there are some HFCC tasks, which were almost finished at last session, now at 0.0 % . I had my system partition re-sized some weeks ago, maybe there's something wrong. Boinc Data has it's very own partition on that machine. If it's the MBR that has been corrupted by the re-sizing, that'd be awkward as there are no other issues to be seen. Other possibility might be a false system time. I had noticed once that changing system time might error/restart a work unit. However, the last couple of wu's restarting occured without changing system time. here's just one more, this one has 'error' state: ... Finished Docking number 132 Finished Docking number 133 Failed to get VersionInfo size: 2 Restoring grahics. bestEnergy: -8.802950 maxGenSeen: 6750 AG Check: Found receptor.A.map Beginning AutoDock... autodock4: wrong number of values read in. Check grid map! Any ideas? Thanks. |

Do you have leave applications in memory while suspended checked?

Weird I swear he didn't state it was on when I read it.

It could be useful to delete the partition, then create a new one and see if it works.

I can't really tell for sure, but possibly this issue comes from a messed up hibernate mode. Waking up sometimes causes the machine to re-boot. I had a similar problem when loading BOINC on a new computer. Yes, the computer rebooted each time and I wasn't hibernating on purpose. Before I checked this, BOINC would go to sleep when I stopped using the computer. I had to make sure this was checked in preferences. Computing allowed [X] while computer is in use. There was a default windows preference to set the computer to sleep a few minutes after I stopped using it. I changed that setting to "never" and have had no problems since.

Did you have a UPS attached to your comp? I noticed that reboot after a hibernate occurred until I downloaded the software for the ups to integrate with the pc. Then it went into hibernate like it should have.
But yeah the op should look to see what the settings on the Power Options in the Control Panel are and change them if needed. |

Thanks for your answers.
I didn't change anything concerning power supply. The machine worked flawlessly before. Whatever the cause is, I wonder why those work units start all the way back from the beginning and not from the last checkpoint. Next, I wanted to push on CEP2, but without (safe) hibernating, this would be impossible a task because CEP2 merely has checkpoints... Yes, the deleting idea sounds good. Maybe something with the hard disk layout has been messed up. I'll try reformatting the Boinc Data partition. |
