I keep getting emails from world community grid saying: Recently, World Community Grid received a request from you to recover your member services account password.
Which I did not request my password be recovered. Is someone trying to hack my account? |

Hello gshank,
Welcome to the forums. Normally this happens when someone is trying to recover a password for a member name that is similar to yours. They normally try more than once, since they did not receive a reply from their first request. Eventually, they usually contact us via the contact us feature and we assist them. Tedi |

Well, got today also two automated supportmails from the WCG telling me to reply for a requested passwordchange. Honestly, not requested by me. Well, it's eventually a user mistyping his own name for his own account as written above, or a simple a try to collect valid email-addresses for spamming. It's easy, if you don't requested a change, simply do nothing if you are not the requester, you won't loose access to your account here, nothing happens. Only thing is that you will get a mail from the password-application here at the WCG, probably a low risc for getting your valid email-address by this try if it's a try to hack. Don't worry.
By the way, there is a slight chance for hacking everywhere, 100% security within the whole internet is a dream. It's up to you to protect yourself. You remember the last hacks you heard about? Sony and so on? Thats what I want to tell you. Keep the protection as high as possible for you. If you are using the same password for all your stuff, for logging in here, for amazon, for paypal, whatever, pls change it immediately. If one site gets hacked, then you are a candidate for getting huge trouble. So do yourself a favour, change to several different passwords for all the stuff you do, if you are using the same everywhere. Onla a hint. Cheers and good crunching! |
