Re: Internet traffic

...it all depends on the project you choose, the number of CPUs you have, how long you leave the PC on....there is no one answer....

Re: Internet traffic

The Systems Requirement page in Help actually lists the one time science app. and *per-work-unit* amount of down and upload. For those with a bandwidth budget, BOINC can be set to stop transmitting when that has been used up, e.g. you can tell it to not exceed 1GB (1000 MB) per 7 days, or 1 day or whatever other combination of budget and time.

Re: Internet traffic

The real bandwidth eater is DDDT2. Some types (there are about 12 job sub-types) run an hour and less and use up to 20MB download each. C-Type mean run-time is about 3 hours, but if taking the hour long Sx, it's 240MB for the same time that CEP2 uses 26-29MB presently running 12 hours, per thread.... depends on how fast / slow a device is.

Note to self: Think I've just figured out something to add to the Dashboard, that might help crunchers judge better what's for them when having BW restrictions... would not include the one-time downloads of the science app and permanent setup files....ponders off. nerd
