new server built and rdy to install boinc

however , I want to save myself from going down the wrong path and having to reinstall my windows server software. Anyways, the question is have installed win server 2008r2sp1 - it's going to be promoted to a Domain Controller tomorrow - should I install Boinc before or after the promo? and what version of boinc should I use?

It's running an Intel core I7-2600K chip, 16 gb ram and win2k8r2sp1 Datacenter (if any of this makes any difference)

Re: new server built and rdy to install boinc

Hello kffitzgerald,

This is not anything I know about, but here are some recent posts about domain controllers.

People seem to recommend the old WCG BOINC 5.10.45 for domain controllers.

Re: new server built and rdy to install boinc

Haven't tried them on a DC yet but 6.12.38 or 6.12.39 might work. I found 5.10.45 often ran out of work.

Re: new server built and rdy to install boinc

haven't done the dcpromo yet, but did install boinc 6.10.60 just to make sure everything was working ok before promoting it. any idea .38/.39 have any known problems? Can I update with these or do I need to uninstallfirst then reinstall?

thx
Kevin
