Hello
First, sorry for my poor english I had for weeks an error of BOINC manager when connecting to localhost. No job could occur. I tried uninstall / reinstall, no effect. I discovered that it was due to an ATI driver upgrade . I think that :11.6 and before are fine (sure until 11.2) 11.8 and 11.9 are bad If it can help someone, Best regards Fred |

It would help even more if you told us which version of the BOINC client you were running.

You are correct. 11.8 and above hang the boinc client when detecting GPU's. There's some posts on the boinc forums about this. This has typically been seen when running in PAE mode (boinc installed as a service). The fix is to reinstall boinc, use the latest version. PAE mode (install as a service) is no longer supported / off by default. It will fix your issue. The down side is that the client will only run if a user is logged on.
