For some reason I can't seem to get any work units for this project. Is this project still active?

You're not Robinson Crusoe by any means.
In a nutshell, there have been problems since August transmitting results to France, but it appears that the French all go on vacation during Summer. Until the Lyons awake, the project's stalled. The "Reduced CMD2 project priority" thread will give you the whole history. In essence, I'll repeat what we've been saying for the past month or more - "Any Day Now..." |

I was wondering why this project was considered Active, with no WU's since over a month. This thread answered my question. But they are still on holiday ?

Hi Guys !
It's not true at all... Vacations are over since a long month and the next ones are only at end of October... Nonetheless, with all the stress it takes being on vacation, we need to rest in between Joke apart , I'd also like to know when things we'll be back for crunch. In the meantime, I've switched to other projects... Bye, |

I have to believe that somebody on the WCG team has made contact with the researchers and has some solid info. It has been too long to not have root cause determination...

We at World Community Grid are as anxisous to get this project started again as you are and had no information up to this point. So there was nothing to report.
All we knew was that the they were out of storage in France and we could not send any more results to them. With nine active projects our storage was hitting its limits as well. So the project had to be stopped. As you may know, the HCMD2 results are sent to Lyon, France where they are stored and then sent to the researchers at UPMC, who are in Paris, France. The folks in Lyon ran out of space and so they had to order some more storage. We heard that the order process for additional storage was delayed due to funding issues, summer holidays, bureaucratic order processes, delays in shipping, wrong parts arriving, etc. On October 5 we had a conference call with the researchers at UPMC and the folks in Lyon. On that call we received the following update and are sharing it with you now: The storage disks are expected to arrive within a week and will then be installed. We are estimating that Lyon will be able to accept work units again by the end of October or sooner. Then we'll have to send our backlog of results to Lyon which could take another 2 weeks. Therefore our current estimate is that this project will be up and running again by the end of November, hopefully earlier. However, the researchers in Paris at UPMC are also stepping up and looking at getting some additional storage to receive the results directly. This may happen sooner than the storage at Lyon being available. We're watching this unfold and will post updates as they become available. Thanks for your patience!!! |
