Why do I never get task for my gpu?

I have 2 gtx 285's When Boinc starts up it says in messages my system specs with the graphic cards and it ask for gpu task but never gets any. It only uses my cpu. I read that Boinic does t take advantage of gpu's but I never get any task or loads on either of my gpu's. I do have the use gpu always selected also. Any help on this would be very much appreciated.

Hi,

and welcome.

WCG doesn't have any GPU projects which is why you don't get any GPU tasks.
You may check out GPUGRID.net if you want a medical project for your GPU

Re: Why do I never get task for my gpu?

just checked it out, looks like they only support GPU's utilizing NVidia - since mine is an ATI I guess I'm out of luck

Re: Why do I never get task for my gpu?

There are other projects that use ATI. Primegrid, Collatz, Milkyway, Dnetc, Moo!, and SETI Beta. However, there has been talk in WCG forums for quite a while that some time in the future, they will begin testing GPU WU's. However, WCG policy is usually hush hush until it actually launches.

Of the above projects listed I have found that PrimeGrid is the best for Nvidia cards and the rest are best for AMD/ATI cards. MilkyWay REQUIRES double precision cards while the others do not. MOST newer cards will work on MOST projects, with the exception of MilkyWay and its double precision requirement. Collatz is the one project that will even work with some older cards but be sure to select the shorter work units if you have one of those. For pure credits Moo! is the best AMD/ATI project, it is proving that security codes can be cracked, the last code cracked was 'see I told you it could be done'.
