The folks at cep2 have proven to be very skillful at using the power of social media to spread their news and strengthen participation.
----------------------------------------They have started a page at Facebook. As of now they have 786 "Likes". That means that there are 786 people or groups which see their posts. But, that's not the end of it. When I see a post, I can "share" it, which then means that everyone with whom I share any sort of relationship - about 100 - at Facebook will also see it, as they get everything I share from my page. WCG itself has gotten the message. WCG is on Facebook and Twitter. At both utilities, they post how many new users have signed on in a week, or a month. They report progress on research in terms of numbers of finished tasks, and "years" of work accomplished. WCG even has a way of posting to my Twitter page and my Facebook page how many days I contributed for the week and also for the month. I would love to see the other projects at WCG use social media in the fashion of cep2. |

We would love to see the other research organizations use social media more and we encourage them to do so. However we can only suggest but can't force them do that.
Feel free to ask the other research orgs in their assigned forums what their intentions are for getting into social media. Thanks for the suggestion. |

Thanks for your reply.
----------------------------------------When in the past I have gone to the forums of individual projects with something like this I have been accused of spamming. |

You could cite the Clean Energy project as a fine example and simply ask the researchers if they plan to do something similar.
