Looking at other treads here I see that there was a dog-eat-dog competition going on about who would reach what level first. This started around 1 Sep. What bugs me is that they were competing a week before the project even existed, officially at least. That was 7 Sep. Why the disparity?
I started on the day of the announcement an have 18+ 'days' of crunching in but clearly I'm missing a bit due to my 6-day late start. |

There was an announcement on August 31st--http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,31663
----------------------------------------If you want to make sure you get WUs for new projects, without having to intervene, make sure to select the option on your My Project (guessing at page since stats are running) page. |

It's not uncommon for a project to start "incognito". Basically, it gives the techs a chance to make sure everything is up and running well before unleashing it on the masses. It actually started on August 31st.

Here I always thought that what you describe was called beta testing.

It's hard to be the first, first to know jmcgaw. You always have those who know better or more

Here I always thought that what you describe was called beta testing. There, you may [still] think this is beta, here we'd call it RC1 :D. WCG has been doing this for quite a few project releases... stabilize first, than run the PR wave. Had you been opted in to be auto-signed on to new research in your device profile(s), your client would have started to receive them piece-meal from August 31. --//-- N.B. 72 crunch hours away from silver ;P |

If you are running SOME projects with "opt in to new projects" the opt in box will appear but will not automatically be checked. Another way to notice new projects is if there happens to be a new subject thread for that project in the Forum Active Research section here. When beta testing is essentially complete and workunits are being sent out they will start one the same day. A scientist posted a welcome message on August 31. https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/...ead_thread,31663_offset,0 The techs are reluctant to make announcements ahead of time. If they did and you got a bunch of crap workunits, you wouldn't like that either.

My duo had C4CW+CEP2 selected + "New project auto opt-in" and DSFL was ticked automatically. --//-- |
