Re: i7-2630qm

You'll be able to run 8 task in parallel! smile

Two things I'd do:

1) Be careful with CEP2. Limit the number of simultaneous CEP2 task in the device profile of that machine.

2) Monitor CPU temperatures, at least the first days, to be sure BOINC won't fry your laptop. I recommend Speedfan or CPU-Z's HW Monitor for this. If temps are too high, limit the % of CPU usage or use a throttling software for BOINC.

Re: i7-2630qm

yes you can hyperthread on a i7.. BUT; be very carefull of overheating since this is on a laptop.
I ran 5 cep 2's at same time;but mine is on a desktop. lot better colling environment for an i7.

Re: i7-2630qm

If you are going to leave it crunching for long periods - remove the battery. Otherwise it will be killed by the load.
I have a laptop which is crunching 24/7 100%. After two months running full power the battery's capacity went down to 50%.

Re: i7-2630qm

Laptop: Samsung rc730 so4

Super thanks for all the answer :) if I want to use all "8" cores what do I write as % ? I will disable the turbo so the cpu will run 2,0GHz (a Sager would be able to run all 8 cores on 2,6GHz)

I have my laptop 8-12h on. I will also fold with my gpu.

I forgot to mention that I have a laptop cooler but I don't think it will help alot; the underside hardly has any openings where cool air can go through

Regards
