Re: Looking for survivors to join Team "The survivors"

I try to recruit IRL. I don't even have a link in my sig to my normal team. I see no point in recruiting someone already crunching on WCG. It doesn't add any new processors or support to WCG, it merely redistributes what is already here.
I see what you mean.
My original idea with Base Camp was to get another line of fun into
crunching for those who like that.
And visiting teams is a good way to get to know new people here.
All crunchers are different, but we all share the fact that we at some point
had an idea and an ideal when we downloaded a little crunching program.
The vast majority of crunchers crunch in silence, tho
And recruiting IRL (took me some spinning to figure that one out) does add more power
- and just ask rcc how uphill that can be sad

Re: Looking for survivors to join Team "The survivors"

I received a suggestion to join the last day of September challenge and I am inclined to do it. What say you?

I emailed my ideas to a couple of members that had mail buttons or contacted me. If you want the ideas just email me and I will gladly share them. Your input is more than welcome. At least with email we won't be bothered with anyone with a wedgy or in a twist due to wearing their Knickers a size or two too small.

Re: Looking for survivors to join Team "The survivors"

Sport,
If you would use the mail button to contact me I will send the recruiting ideas.

Team,
The feedback on the last day of September challenge has been positive and after this post I will join the three team challenges. The team stats for yesterday (Sept. 27th) were very good so there is room for optimism. And after all, what will they do to us if we lose, flog us? I think not!

Re: Looking for survivors to join Team "The survivors"

So, we're in a September challenge.
I have had many challenges in my life, but never that one.
How do I do to make the most of my few WUs?
I hear words like "cache" and believe it's something
you have squared aside for a rainy or snowy day.
Is that what we do - or do we just do as we normally do?

Please explain v-e-r-y slowly to the slow one biggrin

cool Re: Looking for survivors to join Team "The survivors"

LM....

The Team Captain sets up the details for a Team
Challenge; as a team member, all you have to do is crunch! Depending on the type of challenge there are ways to tweak your output... but as Guests that is beyond our scope!

EDIT: From what I can pull from the challenge roster these are for THE LAST DAY of Sept. Therefore to be most productive....save all your finished WU's from NOW until Sept. 30 and dump them all on 9/30...if I read the Challenges correctly.....RCC input????

EDIT AGAIN:

I checked deeper; the above is in fact true; there are 3 Challenges...Points submitted by a team on 9/30...results 9/30...runtime 9/30

If BaseCamp wants to help "The survivors" on these Challenges (The survivors are registered for all 3) we need to get word out to hold all production until 9/30 and submit all finished WU's then!!!!!

Re: Looking for survivors to join Team "The survivors"

How does one keep them from transferring and still be Internet connected?
Not that I crunch very much, but out of curiousity ....

....Go to the "Activity" Menu in Boinc Manager Advanced; and select "Network Activity Suspended"...then on Friday simply select "Network Activity Always Available" to be on the safe side force an upload late Friday UTC Time
