Help Fight Childhood Cancer project update

Great news from HFCC!!

"After screening 3,000,000 candidate chemicals by molecular imaging and cellular toxicity, our project team has finally identified 7 small chemical compounds which kill several neuroblastoma cells at very low concentration. These compounds are currently subjected for further analyses including the toxicity test using mice as well as elucidation of the molecular mechanism how cancer cells are killed.

Thank you."

Re: Help Fight Childhood Cancer project update

Could we have a webcast or something from this project?

Also I would like to know whether these compounds kill neuroblastoma in low concentrations of neuroblastoma cells or kill neuroblastoma cells with low compound concentrations.

Hope I made myself clear

Re: Help Fight Childhood Cancer project update

The 7 small chemical compounds killing several neuroblastoma cells, in low concentration, is positive. The 3 Million is the number of compounds we test for each target of which we've completed 6. Which target the 7 compounds where taken from is not said i.e. T1, N1, S1, S2, L3, L4. Referring to the previous news flash it may be relating to S2, the 3rd target. This implies that N1, L3, L4 are outstanding for analysis.

Don't know what the monikers of the target 7/8 are, have asked, but can't remember seeing a reply. Just for future reference which analysis run news and updates refers to, to get a feel how far the scientists have progressed in their studies.

The researchers have agreed to do a webcast. But first we have to give them time document their findings in a scientific paper.

I'm guessing a webcast would not be until early in 2012.
