Hey all, I was wondering about the idea of renting a high powered server to run WCG on.
Is this a good idea and is it cost effective? If its a good idea do you know of any good companies to go through? |

Hello Seroph4x,Only you can decide how to spend your money, but this sort of query worries me. What if a member does something like this and later becomes unhappy about extravagance? WCG wants its members to feel happy about themselves and their contributions to useful and helpful scientific progress. Ordinarily, when members feel like contributing more to WCG than they already are, they spend a bit more on their next upgrade than they otherwise might. If they later lose interest in WCG, they can easily shrug off self-criticism about having a better computer than is strictly necessary for email. Lawrence |

Renting/leasing can be less trouble than owning something, and possibly less expensive if the use is short-term. But I don't see WCG as short term.
Hmm, maybe I could rent out my computer for WCG? :-) Provided I can still use the occasional cycle for email and web surfing, of course. Sounds good to me! |
