I did Help Conquer Cancer 6.42 job 6 parts says 100% on all 6 jobs but my stats are 0%
----------------------------------------Seti sucks but at least I would have 1 or 2 done and credited to me after 10+ hours!! Under messages it shows that I uploaded the job and it was finished so why no stats?? I am not expecting a lot but show me I did something. This seems like a good idea so I install but since I get no credit so it turn out to be a waste of my resources. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Aug 22, 2011 9:54:17 AM] |

Welcome to WCG Randall,
HCC has a quorum of 2 so you and another person must both complete the work unit and upload it before it can validate and points be awarded. Also, stats are only updated twice per day at 1200hrs & 2400hrs UTC. So long as your machine is properly completing the tasks, then credits will be awarded in due course. Cheers |

Hi Randall, welcome to WCG.
Guess you're of the rapid response team ;>) Please mosey over to My Grid > Result Status page or click this link, to get a listing of the current completed work and their status, sorted by newest to oldest completed. If the Ready to Reports in your client tasks list were cleared, at the very least your work if completed correctly, would show as Pending Validation, the most common intermediate state for starting crunchers. Once you're in a flow of a few days, your average credit will gradually creep up to average a similar amount of work for each day. All depends on the wingman speeds of return... which by WCG deadlines can take for HCC up to 8-9 days for an individual task, but usually average to happen under 48 hours. Let us know how it goes and forward on, crunching to conquer cancer. --//-- |

Hi RandallLind, welcome to the wonderful world of WCG.
----------------------------------------As indicated above, a slight bit of patience is required with projects that have a quorum of 2 - as the scientists have deemed it necessary for their work, to have each WU double checked before they can process it further. As such, I'm sure that you'll soon start seeing credit being granted for work your computer has accomplished in it's spare time. BTW, even if you'd have chosen a project with Zero Redundancy (Help Fight Childhood Cancer (HFCC) and Computing for Clean Water (C4CW) being two - and I know that there are others), as your machine is new to WCG, the system would automatically have sent some verification WU's to simply check/ensure that your machine returns valid results. This is something that each and everyone of us has had to go through when joining/adding new machines to WCG. I do hope that you'll be patient just that little longer - as, after all, Rome wasn't built in a day ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by gb009761 at Aug 22, 2011 11:22:05 AM] |

I look at it this way- Completed work units returned for validation are like money in the bank. They *will* be credited.
----------------------------------------Hint- if your computer(s) are well connected, always on etc, keep your cache settings relatively low (I keep mine usually at .2 or .3 days) for fast turnaround it keeps the wait times down. Longer cache times are good if your machines are not so well connected so your machines don't "run dry". Sometimes you'll be waiting on other people, sometimes other people will be waiting on you; it does even out after a bit. My machines are pretty much 24/7 and results vary but over time it all evens out... ![]() ![]() |

Job showed under messages as uploaded X0000123761021201011241116_ 0-- but I get no credit for website says job is still in progess. And last but not least when the job has not even been reported by BOINC yet, no credit can ever be granted. ![]() |

----------------------------------------Now I know I am happy. :) Thanks for the help. Also what happens after it uses 10GB of my HDD? [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Aug 22, 2011 4:42:14 PM] |

My quad has an outsize cache and I run multiple projects. Total drive usage by BOINC is about 450Mb.
10Gb? I don't believe it'll ever get there. AFAIAA, drivespace allocation is a relic from the days when we could only dream of having 10Gb TOTAL available. It used to be important in the days of W98 and a really huge 200Mb drive (or even smaller...) - and yes, I still have a couple of those old machines, just can't afford the electricity to run them...Others do, though. |
