I have had the Bonic software installed and running fo rmany years on a computer. I have a new system and am attempting to installing the program on it as well. I downloaded the software, install it and I get a windown indicating "RetrievingCurrent Status" that apparently just hangs. It has not changed in over 8 hours. I can not detect any actual activity. I tried this quite some time ago with the same results.
What am I missing to select a project and add this computer to my existing account? |

Did you use WCG's branded version or did you get your copy from Berkeley?
----------------------------------------Second, (because they as in other members will ask) have you tried disabling your anti virus or adding exceptions to it? Third, what operating system and version are you running? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Coleslaw at Aug 10, 2011 10:11:26 PM] |

Welcome to WCG, Mary! I have the same questions that Coleslaw asked, plus I want to caution you to change your member name to something other than your email address in order to reduce spam generated by automated email collection agents. Lawrence |

I got it from the WCG website. I am running Windows 7 64 bit. Based on you response I stopped the anti-virus program but there is no change. I rebooted and there is an icon added on startup (same one as when I first installed the software) which when pointed to says "Reconnecting to Client." Still no projects or tasks and when opening Bionic Manager there is nothing indicating any activity.
The other computer that has been running since 2005 also has Windows 7 64 bit and the same virus program. Aany additional thoughts? |

I would suggest reinstalling with restart:
1. uninstall 2. reboot 3. install again What king of AV solution do you use? Does it contain firewall or do you use WindowsFW? |

Well, just a heads up, but some people have had this random problem on some systems using WCG's branded version. I would ask that you do Randzo's suggestion only using Berkeley's version. If you don't like Berkeley's latest release which is now different then WCG, you can still download the older version. I believe the link to the older one that matches WCG is: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_6.10.58_windows_x86_64.exe

I would ask also: did you open tools menu and choose "attach to a project" ? Maybe switch to advanced interface as it is more verbose and go to "messages" tab and post here what it says.
