having issues installing the program needed

Hi. I'm usually good with installing programs, but i double click the downloaded file, and it says "Error reading setup initialization file"

What do I do from here?

No guarantees, naturally - but I've seen similar issues when a third-party 'download manager' is installed.

Try downloading again with the manager disabled (on Firefox, Help>Restart with Add-ons Disabled

If you have any more problems,
Empty the browsers cache and delete any download you already have. Also good idea to clear the secure socket layer.
Then download Boinc again (save file, and run after closing the browser).
You might also want to run the installation as administrator if you are using W7/Vista (right click on the download, run as administrator).

thanks guys, i'll try these after church. would it have anything to do with this not being a 64 bit system? I would hope not, but I don't know.

You cant install the 64bit Boinc client on a 32bit operating system, but that would have given a different error anyway.

"Error reading setup initialization file" is a known error associated with the action of extracting the executable into a temporary folder, during the setup phase. Might be a corrupt download or other problem, but clearing the temporary internet files & SSL should allow for a clean download.
