What's the plan for the end of HCMD2?

When we reach the end of HCC, at some point in time all regular WUs will be sent out, and only repairs will remain for a couple of days.

When we look at HCMD2, the situation is a bit different: When the last parents are sent out, there will be children, and grandchildren, and potentially even more "generations", so the project end is likely to be more of a fade-out rather than hard end.

Is there any plan in place to speed up the project at that very end? For example, when it comes to the last few days WCG might send out all parents first, holding back child WUs. Thus, all the parent WUs might be back before we run out of child WUs.

Regards,
Martin

Re: What's the plan for the end of HCMD2?

Children are produced as rapid as the original parents, though from a batch management point of few it's probably easier to let these be generated when batches / sub-batches are complete, so as to allow the Techs to more quickly clear these and to keep the number on the live DB in check. It certainly seems to be the current practice. How the end game will work, don't know. Maybe the child/grandchild etc generator is left to run continuously which will hog more records on e.g. the scheduler, but at least will allow for a more persistent and lasting supply for the ''exclusive'' crunchers. But, as with any WCG project end period it will be sliding out, repairs/no reply make ups taking about 3 weeks to get through the system. Word lastly was for HCMD2 to finish in December 2011, kind of in line with what is shown on the dashboard in remaining days.

Will there likely be a HCMD3?
