wcg_boinc_6.10.58_windows_intelx86 is what I am trying to install on windows 7 machine. when I go through the install process I get a pop up that says:
----------------------------------------World Community Grid the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable click ok to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "World community grid -boinc for windows.msi" in the box below. I have downloaded the file from WCG and have it saved on the locale hhd, can someone help me get this to install thanks [Edit 2 times, last edit by hunterkasy at Jul 9, 2011 2:30:47 AM] |

The BOINC installer is particular and wants to uninstall the old version first [assume there was], but can't find it, or thinks it's in an inaccessible location. Remedy: First uninstall your old version, for which you need the old package you had before 6.10.58.

when I go to programs and features it has WCG version 2.2.28 listed when I try to uninstall it says:
World Community Grid the feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable click ok to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "World community grid -boinc for windows.msi" in the box below. |

Seems it still works fine per this http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/fo...54-4181-b585-389918e7a286
Use this or some other cleaner [ccleaner can break things], or manually remove all Berkeley entries from the registry with regedit/regedt64 [not sure of the name, but it's part of windows]. Prior, make a System restore point with W7, so if something gets broken you can get back. Sorry for the troubles, but know no other way to get BOINC to install. --//-- |

well. I got the problem fixed, but now I am running into a new problem, when the installer went farther than before for me now I get this pop up:
World Community Grid installer information internal error 2718. {E7394983-3869-46F4-A117-EB148F-104D79} |

I was able to get it to work with the ms cleaner
