Apple granted patent for technology that would allow Steve Jobs to selectively kill iPhone functions.
----------------------------------------link Does anyone else have a problem with this?
In 1969 I took an oath to defend and protect the U S Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and Domestic. There was no expiration date.

Sneaky, intrusive and not what I would want to pay money for; you can have a camera with your phone, but Apple (or whomever they sell the rights to) will decide when and where you can use it!

They can try all they want: in no time there will be a Cydia tweak that can fix this (provided, you'll have your iPhone jailbroken).
----------------------------------------Nevertheless, I don't think Apple (or anyone else) should have this kind of control over my iPhone to begin with. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jun 18, 2011 7:11:22 PM] |

"Sneaky, intrusive, and not what I'd pay money for...."
This sums up my feelings on Apple as a whole quite nicely. |

"Sneaky, intrusive, and not what I'd pay money for...." This sums up my feelings on Apple as a whole quite nicely. Ten years ago nobody would buy an apple computer. Then came macbooks in 2006 and iphones in 2007, and everyone had to have one. This is a way out of topic, but I think I'm also living in the past.. I mean, their products are nice but it is hard to understand why people are suddenly so excited about overpriced design products. But considering the topic, patent (application) doesn't mean they will eventually apply it.

But considering the topic, patent (application) doesn't mean they will eventually apply it. This is true. Given the current privacy concerns with smartphones (iPhones in particular) there may be hesitation to implement something such as this. |
